This is really making me worried.

the other day, I got 15 'return to sender' emails (that it was bounced, failure to delivery)

I get them once in a while, and it's spam messages and they're pretending to be from me.

Last night... 152.

This morning... 75.

wtf.

These actually look like they were from me, to random emails that were either fake, bounced, or blocked saying it was spam.

Hmmm! I think I'd be changing my password just to be safe.

I got a flood of those a couple weeks ago, it stopped as suddenly as it came. Really wierd. :/

Usually it's good at stopping stuff like this, but lately a lot of 'new' spam emails been getting through *sigh*

I get a lot from gay leather shops... it's weird :s

Yeah, me too. I had a flood of them late last week, and now they are slowing down.

The internet is becoming a very scary place...

Our networking people claim that these messages are coming from infected PC's which have you in their address book. The from: address is spoofed with the ones from the address book to prevent tracing where it actually came from.
~shrugs~
I get them on occasion... never more than three or four at a time though. I'd run anti-virus and anti-spyware scans on all of the PC's in your house just to be safe.

it's all 'bouncing' off of full email inboxes and random jibberish email addresses, etc.

I don't keep an address book, actually, so i don't think i've a chance of it spreading.

It's very likely that someone you have emailed has a virus. And as such, their computer is using their address book to send out spam emails. But because it has your email address attached (harvested from the infected person's address book), it is bouncing back to you.

I get this ALL the time. Once a spammer gloms onto a working business address, they frequently spoof it (pretend to be sending from it) to send out further spam. It comes in spurts - one day I'll get a few, the next a few hundred. It trickles off over the next day and happens again in a week or two.

I had it happen a couple of weeks ago. I've never had a real problem with spam - but over the course of about three days, I had something like 300 return-to-sender-undeliverable messages that appeared to have been sent from my address. I deleted them all, changed my password, and it hasn't happened again. So far. *knock on wood*
