The hidden history of the world is a story of powerful feminine forces, long expunged by the patriarchy. Laura Pelick is working to help reclaim this lost knowledge with her portraits of archetypal female power.

Goddesses, elementals, and fairies hold a stately court in Ms. Pelick’s kingdom of imagination, presiding over deep forests, desert plains, and snow-swept fields. These mythological forces given form are most often confident and serene, but some are tormented by unseen forces or unexplained situation and chose to hide their true faces behind elaborate masks.

Whatever their disposition, Laura’s figures are rendered with varying levels of abstraction, but they always maintain their dignity, femininity, and humanity.

    Commissions

I love working with odd sizes, so take the basic size as a template and fiddle as needed to make taller or squarer (Ie: 8x10 can be 6x12 or 9x9)

    What I work with:
Pencil, Micron Pen, Acrylic, Gouache, WaterColor. At this time, I cannot use Oil paints, because of location (no proper ventilation)
    Paper, illustration board, canvas.

Tea paper adds at least a week to time. Please view the above link for tea art to see examples of what tea can do for you.

For digital you will get ONE print at full size. Any additional prints are based off of print sizes posted above.

For traditional, prices do not include shipping & insurance and those prices vary.

Generally, depending on size and complexity, pieces can take anywhere from 2-3 days to over a month. Tea will ALWAYS add a week onto processing time, which is usually setting while I work on sketches, so if you want your paper to be stained in tea, please clearly imply that in the beginning of talks.

    Process:
We talk via email so I can find out what you're looking for. Depending on what it is, the more personal the image, the more questions I will be asking to get a 'feel' for the piece. This helps with your attachment to the final work and I can better convey what it is you would like with as much background information that I can get.

I will scan all sketches for approval and once those are finished and you pick which you would like, I do an underdrawing (this is pre-coloring/filling in with linework).

Please realize that the moment I start coloring, alteration is almost impossible and usually requires doing an entirely new drawing. Any changes after the fact will involve additional fees. This will also include digital.

I require 50% payment at the start of the project. The other 50% (plus shipping and handling fees) is due when I show you the final underdrawing linework.

Most work will take anywhere between 2-3 days to 6-8 weeks. If there is a deadline, be sure to express this in the beginning so I am aware of time restraints.

    email: prints@fallenlights.net

    Prices
All sizes are flexable. You want taller than wider? Take off an inch on one side, added to the other. No change in prices.

Please visit http://fallenlights.net to get an idea for what I do for various mediums :)

I don't do just 'fantasy' artwork. I'd prefer if you went with something that can be seen as a small 'story', but that's not set in stone :)

laura@fallenlights.net please email me if interested in a commission, all pricing will be discussed.

you should look into the deviant art printing hun, I have ordered alot of work through them and the only thing you ever pay is the 24.95 sign up cost for it. After that you pretty much make anything into prints, and they provide you with sizing and hints and ideas on how to optimize.. and not only can you do a heck of a wide range of prints but you have the options of also doing puzzles, mouse pads, magnets, post cards, coasters, mugs.. and they do calendars too and they are looking at getting into greeting cards and such as well, so its alot of option for a small fee... even if you only start with printing there, you can always move to another place later on and expand with stickers, keychains and the like... nods....
grins, sorry i think i'm babbling LOL

Yea, that's where I'm looking, just haven't had the time to skim through it yet.

I used to do all the prints through paypal, then order them from a printing site, but they started to get really fishy with their colors after they changed domain names (I'm assuming management changed then.)

Do you know anywhere to get greeting cards printed by any chance? Kodak does them really well but you end up with their logo on the back and they're kinda expensive...

your work slides through my perceptions as snow permeates the body of earth: Slowly, coldly, profoundly, and inevitably nurturing.

I wish I had a tarot deck infused with your art. what an oracle that would make.

Hey there, followed your art through the [info]illustrators community. I really like your stuff, hope you don't mind I added you. Maybe I can learn a thing or two about watercolor from observing ;) I work with it a lot but it just doesn't seem to work with me the way I want it to.

Oh I looked at your journal and website after you left your comment in The Faeries and I have to say GORGEOUS work, beautiful. It all has such power and grace (can't find the right word there, but grace comes close) to it. Your sketches are as complete as your finished pieces. I'll add you to my Friends if that's ok and keep taking little peeks back! ;)

I'm sure you get a lot of this - but truly you are an amazing artist.
Keep up the good work and keep your imagination and mind set in this fantasy world, it's pulling out some amazing things.

    Peace,
    Xarkon.
