The hidden history of the world is a story of powerful feminine forces, long expunged by the patriarchy. Laura Pelick is working to help reclaim this lost knowledge with her portraits of archetypal female power.

Goddesses, elementals, and fairies hold a stately court in Ms. Pelick’s kingdom of imagination, presiding over deep forests, desert plains, and snow-swept fields. These mythological forces given form are most often confident and serene, but some are tormented by unseen forces or unexplained situation and chose to hide their true faces behind elaborate masks.

Whatever their disposition, Laura’s figures are rendered with varying levels of abstraction, but they always maintain their dignity, femininity, and humanity.

Time to blow WoW and Aion and all the other silly MMO's OUT OF THE WATER. Signed up for beta last week. Final Fantasy 14s been in the works for years now, under the code name Rapture. Coming out End of 2010 or something, I believe..

Attention became acute, so sharp and poignant that it dripped down the back of her throat with a scent of fresh vomit. Quickly away fled the vision of her loved one, feeling the waft of a slight breeze as he twisted in the ropes above her. Carcass. The taste of that word inched itself deep down into the bowels of her gut, forcing a shudder and muffled wail to answer. Green, braken.

A while back I was asked to do a tutorial for a photoshop magazine (yea, me, who rarely does anything digitally!)

that's the issue for this magazine. it's already out in Barnes & Noble, and Borders to flip through since the site doesn't show more than a blurb, but I'll scan it in when I get my copy:)

it's a tutorial for Goddess of the Evening Star, which was tough, since I did not have an unflattened image to back out through and pick apart, so I kind of redrew a few areas.

not sure if it's evident in here what i'm thinking... but death/rebirth is where I'm going... might change things around, but yea...

Alright, since I know how my workflow usually is (plus HomeDepot stuff)... I am no longer taking commissions with deadlines of the holidays. Going to see where I am mid-December with the book to see if I need to put a hold on any new commissions - other than small paintings/drawings - up through the end of Feburary.

I think after lowering the price twice on this painting (I painted it about 4 years ago), then having someone go "Oh, that's a great price for this!" ...and not buy it in the end, it's time to take one of my favorites off the market and put it up on my wall where no one but I can keep it >_>

so the other one isn'tw orking out at the ratio I started on paper, so it's a redo from start.



And to quote my husband after I whined about it still not working, he goes "So just do it 30x's over like you always do on your best pieces."

I've now got three different sketchbooks going on. One for Arkadia (which I need to move all this fairy queen stuff over too, I suppose). My regular stuff sketchbook (finally full, new one will be broken in probably this week... have some dragons I want to draw.) and one for the childrens books. I feel slightly organized!

Got a filing cabinet the other night :D it TRIPLES as a countertop for Moo's other monitor, a book shelf (room for a whole box of books I bet) and has filing drawers, awesome :D Solid wood, all for like 450 + tax + shipping. Gotta love clearance sales at furniture stores for redmodeling.
