The hidden history of the world is a story of powerful feminine forces, long expunged by the patriarchy. Laura Pelick is working to help reclaim this lost knowledge with her portraits of archetypal female power.

Goddesses, elementals, and fairies hold a stately court in Ms. Pelick’s kingdom of imagination, presiding over deep forests, desert plains, and snow-swept fields. These mythological forces given form are most often confident and serene, but some are tormented by unseen forces or unexplained situation and chose to hide their true faces behind elaborate masks.

Whatever their disposition, Laura’s figures are rendered with varying levels of abstraction, but they always maintain their dignity, femininity, and humanity.

This should be an interesting evening and night.

Came home from work, ate a bowl of cereal and went upstairs to take a nap (I got up at 4:45am to work 5:30>2:30).. Read for a little while before decided I should snooze for a little bit.

Woke up in a BIG panic at seeing the time reading 6:24.

Wondering where the hell Matt was, and for a few minutes I sat there being numb, trying to go over the day, not sure how I let myself sleep from 4pm until 6:24 am the next day (meaning friday)

Forced myself to think that no, it's still thursday, Matt just started class about 15-20 minutes ago and wouldn't be home for 2 hours... Then a bad headache hit, which is where I am at this point.

And I'm still not sure I beleve it's 6:40pm on thursday.

Was beta'ing Aion with Matt and a friend of ours, the last couple of days, next week is another few days, slightly higher level...

Was a little blah up until level 10, where the areas and design got a whole lot more interesting...

Creating characters is great, LOTS of ways to go, big, small, pointy ears, human, overweight, anorexicly skinny... So I went Nihm - cute and adorable (small scout, pigtails and green) and Failon - healer was more serious looking with an awesome mowhawk. Also did a little warrior for a bit, dark, exotic and skinny, but I didn't play her much.

Hopefully there's a bit more indepth story to it, because it feels a bit lacking, similar to WoW in a lot of ways which is too bad :/

commission art stuff...

1. half of first commission done (tolkien)
2. started research on breastfeeding, sketching before people come over (...and my goodness there's some WEIRD stuff out there)
3. plotting 3rd commission, character art
4. and picked up 4th commission...
5. found email for one that won't start until after GenCon.
6. interior art for sci-fi stuff (need to poke them to see if this starts this year or early next...)


Um...
Oh, and have been looking through ref's for stiltwalker... had to push back a few other things (art that i was thinking i might finish for gencon, fairies...)

Still taking commissions, but probably won't be able to start them for at least 2 weeks.

Poked about with Aion this morning... a little too much like WoW for my tastes but I'll keep trying it out in beta.

5x5in paintings are so much fun...

they're on canvas (the thick gallery type where you paint the sides too, sit out about an inch and a half)

Going to add them to my commission list:

(PS, I've got like... 3 different sets of fairies I'm thinking of doing. Maybe four, if I can come up with a good way to make a buffalo into a fairy that's giggleworthy.)
